Titanium materials research and development at Inter-China Chemical

Research, Development and Technical Capabilities

Application-Driven R&D for Titanium Materials

Inter-China Chemical develops titanium dioxide and titanium-based functional materials around downstream application requirements, product qualification and industrial scale-up. Our R&D structure connects laboratory research, pilot-scale process development, accredited testing and manufacturing support.

Through Topfine New Materials, Inter-China Testing & Technology and Gangfeng New Materials, ICC supports technical development from material design and laboratory evaluation through pilot production, application testing and commercial manufacturing.

  • Pigmentary titanium dioxide for plastics, coatings, inks and paper
  • Infrared-reflective and high-purity titanium materials
  • Lithium titanate and titanium-based direct lithium extraction materials
  • Application testing, product qualification and process scale-up

From Laboratory Research to Commercial Production

ICC’s development process begins with downstream application requirements rather than isolated material specifications. Projects may include material design, laboratory preparation, physical and chemical characterization, application testing, pilot-scale process evaluation and manufacturing transfer.

Defined test conditions and customer qualification results are used to refine product performance and processing recommendations. This integrated approach helps connect laboratory findings with practical formulation, production and commercial-supply requirements.

Pigmentary Titanium Dioxide Development

ICC develops pigmentary titanium dioxide grades according to downstream formulation, processing and application-performance requirements. Development work considers surface treatment, particle characteristics, dispersion, optical performance, processing stability and end-use durability.

  • Masterbatch, plastic film and general plastic applications
  • Outdoor-durable PVC and polyolefin systems
  • Polycarbonate and selected engineering plastics
  • Waterborne, solvent-based, powder and industrial coatings
  • Printing inks, paper and other pigment applications

Functional and High-Purity Titanium Materials

Beyond conventional pigmentary titanium dioxide, ICC develops functional and high-purity titanium materials for thermal management, electronic materials, energy-storage applications and lithium recovery.

Development priorities include near-infrared reflectance, chemical purity, precursor reactivity, crystal structure, adsorption performance, particle strength and cyclic operating stability.

  • Infrared-reflective titanium dioxide
  • High-purity titanium dioxide and metatitanic acid
  • Lithium titanate materials
  • Titanium-based adsorbents and ion-exchange materials for direct lithium extraction

R&D Facilities and Pilot-Scale Capabilities

Topfine New Materials operates dedicated facilities for titanium-material research, laboratory sample preparation and pilot-scale process development. These capabilities allow technical teams to evaluate material design, process conditions and product consistency before commercial manufacturing.

Application testing and material characterization are supported by Inter-China Testing & Technology, connecting product development with defined test methods and customer qualification requirements.

Experimental and Process Equipment

Experimental capabilities include sample preparation, mixing, filtration, drying, calcination, milling and material evaluation. Available equipment includes laboratory furnaces, pilot-scale rotary kilns, superfine milling equipment and supporting instruments for titanium dioxide and functional-material development.

Equipment configurations are selected according to the material system and development objective. Pilot results are evaluated together with laboratory data before process transfer or commercial-scale production.
